4X The nicest spots in The Hague and Scheveningen

Read the blog

The Hague is the only major city in the Netherlands that is located directly by the sea. The Hague is a lot more authentic than Rotterdam and Utrecht. There are plenty of activities, restaurants and outdoor cafes in this beautiful old town. Described below are the 4 best spots in The Hague and Scheveningen.

1. The Square

You can’t write an article about The Hague without mentioning the square. The square is located in the center of The Hague, near the Binnenhof. In the area you will find many beautiful, historic homes, and on the square itself numerous terraces and restaurants. In the summer you can spend an afternoon in the sun here, while in winter the heaters are on. An ideal and fun place to have a drink, or a bite to eat.

2. The Anna Paulowna Square

This square is located in the Zeeheldenbuurt neighborhood, on a side street of the laan van Meerdervoort. By chance, we stopped by here once and were immediately sold. Cute lights everywhere, a cute little square with several terraces, and best of all: there is little traffic. A one-way street runs through the middle of the square, where cars and buses drive, but this is not disruptive. You are surrounded by beautiful, old buildings in different colors, giving the whole place a cozy and cozy feel. A very nice place in the middle of The Hague.

3. Solbeach in Scheveningen

Scheveningen beach is always beautiful. Whether you come here in summer or winter, there is always plenty to see and do. In the summer, there is an advantage: then there are a lot of beach tents built up on the beach.

One of those beach clubs is Solbeach. There are tables here, as well as nice lounge benches for 2 people overlooking the beach and sea. The reason why many people come here is because you can barbecue yourself here! You can choose a meat, fish, vegetarian or mix menu, which you can prepare yourself on a small barbecue at your table. This is served with 2 kinds of salad, and you can also order fries with it. Super fun and entertaining to do together, or with a whole group!

You can also order a delicious breakfast here the next morning with warm, fresh bread, warm croissants, all kinds of toppings and a yogurt.

Tip: download the Solbeach app or check Social deal for deals at Solbeach. Often with this you pay only 50% of the normal price!

4. The South Park

This is The Hague’s most famous park. Every morning, afternoon and evening you will encounter runners, cyclists, skaters or walkers here. There are plenty of sports here, and it’s a cozy place to walk around with friends.

Most people walk around the park, which is 2.5 km, on the paved bicycle and footpath. But it is also possible to walk criss-cross through the park. Everywhere you will find side roads that lead to a small lake or a flower garden. I have been coming here for several months and each time I take a different path and discover something new, how fun is that!

There are several entrances, namely on Loevesteinlaan, Vreeswijkstraat, Melis Stokelaan and Veluweplein. It is near Moerwijk, in the Rustenburg/Oostbroek neighborhood. It is the largest park in The Hague and a nice place for everyone.
