The Gardens by the Bay, along with the Marina Bay Sands, is an iconic point in Singapore. The Gardens by the Bay project was created by the Singapore government to add more greenery to the city. This has cost more than US$ 1 trillion. So a huge project! This is well reflected in all the special details of Gardens by the Bay. The most famous part of Gardens by the Bay are the 25-50 meter tall Singapore trees. When you see this one, you feel like you are jumping 10 years ahead in time, as it is so futuristic and special.

How do you get to Gardens by the Bay?
Gardens by the Bay is located next to the Marina Bay Sands. This iconic building is located in the center of Singapore, making it easily accessible.

In Singapore, the fastest and easiest way to get to your destination is by metro. The nearest subway station is Bayfront. The Circle line (orange) and the Downtown line (dark blue) arrive at this station. You can use Google Maps to see the exact route and subway line from your starting point. Note that from Bayfront, you still walk underground (past the Marina Bay Sands mall) for a bit. Follow the signs Gardens by the Bay, then you can’t miss it. Gardens by the Bay at daytime
Besides the Singapore trees, Gardens by the Bay also has a lot of natural beauty to offer. As you walk around the park, taking a different path each time, you are sure to encounter this. From landscaped gardens to unusual trees and flower beds, everything can be seen at Gardens by the Bay. You can walk among the Singapore trees here at a height of over 20 meters for 8 Singapore Dollars (this is roughly equivalent to 5 to 6 euros). If you want to take your time to wander around Gardens by the Bay, it is recommended to arrive early in the morning. Singapore has a very humid and hot climate so it heats up quickly after 10 a.m. and it is not so comfortable to walk around.

Light show Gardens by the Bay
Every evening, a spectacular light show is performed at the Singapore trees in Gardens by the Bay. Start time is at 7:45 p.m. and 8:45 p.m. The light show lasts 15 minutes. This is one of the most impressive sights in Singapore and definitely worth visiting during your trip. To the accompaniment of current hit music, the Singapore trees change color, make beautiful drawings and sparkle in the dark.

Cloud Forest
Within the Gardens by the Bay park are two large glass domes: the Cloud Forest and the Flower Dome.

The original purpose of the Cloud Forest was to encourage sustainable technology. Soon this goal was adjusted as tourists (and locals) came to visit the Cloud Forest. Today it is one of the city’s biggest attractions. Inside this huge glass dome is one of the highest indoor waterfalls along with a kind of tall mountain, lined with all kinds of flowers, ferns and plants.

At 10 am, 12, pm, 2 pm, 4 pm, 6 pm and 8 pm, a kind of haze is dispersed creating an extra mysterious and adventurous atmosphere. It is recommended that you make sure you get in half an hour before these times so you can get a good look at this.

Tickets can be purchased online through this site. You buy a ticket for a date here. There is no time slot you have to meet. The Gardens by the Bay Direct entry ticket is a combo ticket and includes admission to the Cloud Forest and the Flower Dome. This is the recommended ticket and costs approximately € 18-20. Shortly after the purchase, you will receive an e-mail containing the e-ticket. It is enough to show and scan this at the entrance, both at the Cloud Forest and the Flower Dome.
Note that the Cloud Forest is closed a few days a year. See which dates this applies to here.
Flower Dome

The Flower Dome is the little sister of the Cloud Forest. Where the Cloud Forest is immense and you keep marveling at all the extraordinary views, the Flower Dome is a little smaller in scale. There are, as expected, many different kinds of flowers here. There were also some nice photo spots made and colored houses set up. It’s fun to check out the Flower Dome with your combo ticket, but don’t expect too much.

Please note that the Flower Dome is closed a few days a year. See which dates this applies to here.
Time schedule to visit the Gardens by the Bay
If you do not have time to go to Gardens by the Bay in the morning and in the evening, it is recommended to be in the park around 4 p.m. and walk through it for a while. Then you can move on to the Cloud Forest and the Flower Dome, which can also be found in the Gardens by the Bay park. After your visit to these large domes, you can look for a good spot to watch the light show around 7 p.m.

Once you have admired the light show from 7:45 to 8 p.m., it is time to head to the Marina Bay Sands. In fact, at 9 p.m. here is the Spectra light show. Lasers are used to illuminate the water jets. Through light, water, special effects and sound, the story of Singapore is told.
Besides Gardens by the Bay, the Botanical Garden in Singapore is also a beautiful natural area to visit. Other than these two natural areas, there are many other fun things to do in Singapore.
