Singapore is a modern and diverse city. Few cities are so advanced in terms of technology and ecology. There are also different cultures and ethnicities in Singapore. This leads to cultural districts where you can eat delicious food and visit various attractions. You can visit most of the highlights in Singapore in 3 to 4 days. This makes it an ideal stopover during your journey through Asia. Below, we give you the 10 best sights of Singapore.
Content of this blog:
1. Marina Bay Sands and the rooftop pool
Of course, this list must begin with Singapore’s most iconic building. The Marina Bay Sands is over 200 meters high and has as many as 2,561 hotel rooms. This does not make it the largest hotel, but the Marina Bay Sands hotel does have the highest pool. This is a rooftop pool, from which you overlook the entire city. Unfortunately, you only get access to this rooftop pool as a guest. Does your budget allow and would you love to spend a night at the Marina Bay Sands? Then book through booking.com or agoda.

2. Cé La Vie in Singapore
If you don’t want to spend hundreds of dollars for a room, you can also choose to have a drink at Cé La Vie. Cé La Vie is a rooftop bar what is located next to the pool. Down at Hotel Tower 3, in the Marina Bay Sands, you’ll see a sign from Cé La Vie. Here you can check in, then the elevator will take you upstairs in seconds.

Please note that you must be neatly dressed. A t-shirt and shorts will suffice for men. For women, a dress, skirt or neat pants is a must. You are not allowed to go upstairs in flip-flops. Unfortunately, if you are not dressed according to the dress code, you will not be allowed to go upstairs.
It is wisest to be at Cé La Vie around 5 / 6 pm. You can then see the view when it is light, with the sunset and when it is completely dark. It is really beautiful and special to see this transition from light to dark. If you come later in the evening there is a chance that you will be turned away because it is too crowded. This has happened to us 2 times.

Other blogs say you have to pay an entrance fee of 23 Singapore dollars per person to go up. This would then be converted into a voucher with which to buy drinks. We did not have to pay anything in October 2022 when we went up. Only the drinks, and mind you, these are expensive. A Coke is the cheapest drink and costs around 6 euros. If you want to order a cocktail or a wine, you should expect prices between 15 and 25 euros per drink. On the other hand, this is offset by the beautiful view that you must have seen if you are in Singapore.

It is also possible to purchase tickets to the Skypark. This is next door and is a vantage point over Singapore. You will pay around 18 euros per person for this, in conversion. Personally, we liked it better to have a drink at Cé La Vie. At least that way you get a drink in return for your money.
3. Ice Cream Museum Singapore
The ice cream museum opened in Singapore in 2021. The theme is pink, candy cane pink. Besides obviously being able to eat lots of ice cream here, in all sorts of different types and flavors, it is also a photogenic museum. In 60 to 90 minutes you will get a guided tour explaining all the ice cream varieties. You are allowed unlimited tastings so make sure you have an appetite if you decide to go here. Tickets cost around 30 euros per person. You can buy tickets here. Please note that the museum is closed on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
4. Gardens by the bay and botanical gardens
Singapore is the greenest city in the world. The Singapore government discovered early on that green cities provide better air quality, healthier people and help cool the city. That is why Singapore is actively working to make the city greener. One way it has done this is by introducing Gardens by the Bay. Gardens by the Bay are Singapore’s most famous gardens and are best known for the Singapore trees. Read all about Gardens by the Bay, Cloud Forest and the Flower Dome here.

A lesser-known natural area in Singapore is the botanical garden. The botanical garden is near the city and it is a beautiful area to walk through. Totally unwind during a walk or a picnic. Read everything you want to know about the botanical garden here.

5. Formula 1 GP of Singapore
Since 2022, Singapore has been back on the Formula One calendar. We managed to score tickets and were at the race. It is an evening race, which is nice because it is a little less hot then. Furthermore, you have an insane view of the Marina Bay Sands and the entire city from the stands.

In 2023, the Singapore GP will take place from Sept. 20 – 22. Check this site for more information and tickets. Will we see you at Formula One in Singapore in 2023?

6. Haji Lane
Haji Lane is a narrow and colorful street in the Arab neighborhood of Kampong Glam. You will find street art, souvenir shops and restaurants. Starting at noon, Haji Lane begins to fill up. Throughout the afternoon and evening you will encounter many tourists. It is a nice street to walk through and have a drink.

7. Bicycle tour of Singapore
When you just arrive in a big city, it can feel a bit overwhelming. The tall buildings, sights to see everywhere. Where do you start? With a bike tour during your first day, you will immediately get a good impression of a city. You will get to know the nice places and will often say, “this is where I want to come back again”. We did this amazing bike tour through Singapore, which we highly recommend. If you can’t get enough of cycling there is also a night bike tour. This way you cycle through the beautifully lit Singapore at night and see it from a completely different angle. Both tours are fun to do and make sure you get a good impression of the city.

8. Visiting different neighborhoods
Singapore is a multicultural city. There are many different ethnicities: 77% of residents are of Chinese origin, 14% from Malaysia, 8% from India and 1% from other countries. This can also be seen in the streets and different neighborhoods in Singapore. Each neighborhood has its own attractions and dishes on the menu. Especially in Little India, we ate tremendously well.

9. Singapore Flyer
The Singapore Flyer is a gigantic 165-meter-high Ferris wheel, that’s as tall as a 42-story tower. For those who are not afraid of heights, it is a chance to see Singapore’s skyline in a unique way. A standard ride in a shared capsule takes half an hour and costs the equivalent of 24 euros. Hours of operation are Thursday through Monday between 2 p.m. and 10 p.m. To be sure, check the website in advance. This is also where you can find tickets.

10. Clarke Quay
Clarke Quay is the entertainment district of Singapore. You can relax on terraces here, as well as enjoy dancing in the clubs. During the day it is also a nice place to have lunch. In fact, Clarke Quay used to be the port of Singapore. You sit here by the water, with a breeze which is very pleasant due to Singapore’s humid and hot climate.
These 10 sights are among the most fun and interesting to do during your trip in Singapore. From Singapore, it is easy to travel on to Borneo, Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia or Thailand.
